Start With Happy

Start With Happy
Will be for you.
Do what makes you happy.
Today, think like you are a kid.
Be free.

I was recently chatting with someone and we starting talking about your “Life’s Purpose” and how she was feeling sad because she hasn’t seemed to have found this yet in her life. She was telling me how lucky I am because I have found my life’s calling, life’s purpose, or whatever you would like to call it.

This got me really thinking

It seems that I have been hearing this comment a lot these past few years. The question jogged my memory and made me remember where my head was at back when I was in college majoring in art. My motto during this time was always, “Do what makes you happy!” At the time I was doing art and I was very happy. But as I write about on the About page on my website and blog, years ago I actually stopped doing the things that made me happy and, over time, ended up becoming quite depressed.

Which brings me to “Start with Happy”

If you are feeling stuck in life because you do not know what exactly your “Life’s Purpose” is, then stop thinking about it. Instead, focus on things that make you feel happy. What brings a smile to your face? What activities do you enjoy?

So, for example, if you love gardening, start spending more time in you garden! If you love writing, try to write for at least 15 minutes every day. If you love working out at the gym, go to the gym! Don’t overthink it. Don’t put pressure on yourself that you need to figure out your big purpose in life right now. Let that come naturally. It might be a combination of several activities that ultimately is “The Thing” that fulfills your life. Anything is possible!

Do what you love and the money will follow

If you are NOT doing things that make you happy because you are worried about how you will make any money doing those things…Stop thinking that you can’t! Look, there is a kid on YouTube named Ryan who, according to Forbes, has been the highest earning YouTuber. What is his channel? “Ryan’s World.” I took a quick peek at his channel and saw that this child currently has 32.2 million subscribers! According to Forbes, Ryan made around $11 million between 2016 and 2017. Let that sink in for a moment. Ryan is playing with toys and “reviewing” the toys. That’s it! And now that he’s a little older I think he is also doing science experiments with his dad. According to an article that I read online his estimated worth as of 2022 is around $32 million. Wow!

I bring this up because I see this as example not only for myself but also for anyone who is thinking, “How can I make any money doing this?” Well, if a kid can play with toys and make more money in a year than most people will make in their lifetime, then anything is possible! Anything! If he can do it, so can you. You just need to start rethinking how you think. In the words of Marie Forleo, “Everything is Figureoutable.” This is an amazing book by the way. If you have not read it, read it. And if you already read it, read it again.

So, I again ask you…what makes you happy?

What brings a smile to your face? Start with happy. Start with doing something in your day that makes you happy. Think back to when you were a kid and you felt free to imagine your amazing world. What did you love to do when you were a kid? What would you love to do now?

Once you answer this question you can ask the Universe for guidance to show you how to make it a business…if that is what you truly want. If it’s possible for a kid to review toys online and make more money in a year than the majority of adults make in a lifetime, than it’s possible for you to find a way to create a life of abundance. You just need to believe…and…here’s the rub…you need to take action.

Each day take a small action step towards building your dream life

Even if it is just for a few minutes in the morning and a few minutes at night, take action. Build the habit of creating happiness in you life. Soon you will find yourself adding more time in the morning, then your afternoon and then in the evening. And before you know it…your days can become pretty amazing!

Live, to Love Life!
