Ikigai is a Japanese concept that means your “reason for being. It’s the thing that gets you up in the morning and gives your life a sense of purpose. It’s a reason for living.

“Ikigai is the action we take in pursuit of happiness.”
~ Yukari Mitsuhashi

One path to happiness is to find your “One Thing,” the thing that gives you a smile when you wake up and gives your life a sense of purpose, and then do everything you can to align your life to this, your Ikigai. If you are unsure of what your “thing” is, don’t try to over think it. Do something that makes you smile and lose the track of time. Start there.

If you find this intriguing, a wonderful book that you might enjoy is “The Ikigai Journey: A Practical Guide to Finding Happiness and Purpose the Japanese Way,” by Hector Garcia and Francesc Miralles. I highly recommend it!

Live, to Love Life!
