Giving Your Best

“Giving Your Best”
Ink drawing (ballpoint pen)
My goal is clear.
To show up to the game.
To leave my very best on the field.
My all.

When I spotted this bighorn sheep in the distance at the Anza-Borrego Desert Park in California, I could tell right away that he had a lifetime of experience and wisdom about him. The rings on his horns tell his story, and I could see his confidence as he stood there gazing into the far distance.

I quickly realized that this bighorn sheep has a lot to teach us. He knows what it takes to not only survive but to thrive. He knows he must give his best every single day. There are no time-outs in the game of life. Even on those exhausting days when he’d rather just sit things out, he still needs to show up to play the game with his best foot forward.

The same, of course, is true for us.

We can be proactive, set our goals for the day and achieve them. We can learn to navigate through trials and tribulations and still keep fighting strong. We can be aligned with the Universal Spirit, and let that Spirit guide us towards the right path to take. We can strive to give our best every single day.
